Hello, all. Udge, I hope you're keeping warm: yesterday, I spotted the first icicles of the season here. And Stray, I echo everything Jean said yesterday: slipping-up is part of being human, so don't blame yourself for that. As we say in my Zen school, "Fall down six times, get up seven." It doesn't matter how many times you fall as long as your desire to get up is greater.
This morning I'm off to Rhode Island, where I'll sit a day of retreat at the Providence Zen Center. On my way home tomorrow, I'll stop at the Cambridge Zen Center for brunch. So I'll see y'all when I get back on Sunday afternoon.
Loving and supportive wishes to you, Stray, for moving onward. Lorianne, I have always liked that saying. I've heard it as "fall seven times, get up eight" — but that just goes to show your point that the number of falls doesn't matter, it's the getting up again that does.
