I finished my Keene State grades yesterday & will submit them today: woohoo! That means today is the first day of the rest of my summer... :-)
In the spirit of climbing back on the meditation bandwagon, this morning I did a half-set of bows (54) followed by 15 minutes of sitting meditation. As much as I've enjoyed doing lots of walking meditation & 5-minutes-in-bed-before-sleeping meditation, it felt great to be back on the mat.
btw, for those of you who don't regularly read John of "My Zen Life," he & his family are in special need of prayers & good wishes today:
Sat this morning, just five or ten minutes. Left the offering water* in the bowls as an invitation to meditate again as soon as I get home... if I miss that window of opportunity often all is lost :-)
*part of how I get ready for meditation is filling the seven offering bowls on my shrine (a.k.a. my chest of drawers with a little wooden Buddha on top) with water. They're supposed to be filled and emptied daily. My theory is that if I have to go fiddle with the shrine anyway, and filling the offering bowls is already done, I'll be likelier to sit. We'll see. Another possibility is I'll resent my morning self trying to manipulate me, and thumb my nose at him.
