Looks like it's been quiet here... I'm back from Montreal, where I did get a chance on Saturday afternoon to sneak back to my room for about 20 minutes of solo meditation & a NAP.

The rest of the weekend consisted of sight-seeing and *LOTS* of interaction with long-time blog friends, including our own Dale and (briefly) Beth. So although we didn't get a chance to meditate together (apart from an in-the-moment photo op while Dale and I were sitting on a busy street in front of my hotel), at least we three were in the same timezone and shared what our rabbi-to-be friend Rachel called "the torah of lived experience."

Priceless!

Hi. I'm back too, from a few days away in Stroud, a smallish town amidst wonderful countryside about one and a half hours south-west of London, where I'm thinking of moving. I did sit and meditate every morning, and was glad of it, though fairly distracted - the place was peaceful, but my mind was not, wondering about my future and how to decide... Feeling rested and healthy after lots of walking in fresh air and sunshine. And this evening I'm starting a short weekly course with a Buddhist meditation teacher - looking forward to that.

Love to all of you.

Lorianne, sounds fabulous! Being with Dale and Beth, oh, they are beautiful meditations just as they are and what more do you need?

Jean, I'm so happy you feel rested and refreshed if not decided yet. Meditating each day in the countryside, how beautiful, bringing that sunshine and fresh air into the mind.

For all my problems with where I'm currently living, the subaltern dampness, provisionality, collections of bits of whatever we need to get by while our household sits unused in storage, my landlord did tell me on the weekend that he would like my daughter and I to stay as long as we want, that we are great tenants, among his favourite, and that he wants us to be comfortable, and he's glad to offer us a home for a very reasonable rental price. All of which made me feel much better - an affirmation that you're liked is, afterall, what we generally need isn't it.

While my daughter will be at her Dad's all Summer, and I have work to do, I would not like to stay where we are through another Winter. So, along with you Jean, still rather unsettled...

Though living in a basement has given me an entirely new perspective on rootedness, how our most stable connections are underground and not sky ones as I had thought all my life. The trees and shrubs are all interconnected underground, I can feel that where I live, and it's a pretty good metaphor for how we are all connected too. So I am learning an earth wisdom from this subterranean dwelling... :)

*hugs & love to all...
