Udge, if you're right handed, then, um, yes, 97% right nostril, according to my naturopath yoga teacher, Sat Dharam, is left-brain dominant. The sympathetic nervous system. The 'fight or flight' mode. Adrenalin runs high all-the-time. The spleen working overtime. It takes its toll on the body.
In her white dress, white trousers, and white turban (3HO Sikh), she would put her fist under the opposite armpit, and say that would switch nostril dominance very quickly. I'm trying it now, as I type this, and it is doing something for sure.
She wrote an amazing book on preventing breast cancer, with diet, naturopathic remedies, yoga exercises and visualizations, and also is a highly respected teacher at the Naturopathic College here. She has three children and is strong as a horse. We'd all be panting in her classes and on she'd go.
When she said we had to make sure we gave both sides, left-right brain, the adrenalin system and the one that heals us (parasympathetic nervous system, when it kicks in, heals the ravages of the other), equal treatment, and we could do it by watching our breath, we did it.
I'm still doing it 12 years later.
Though, Udge, your loving, wry humour, hmmn, could you be ribbing us, just a little?
Link to her book, Healthy Breast Program. She gave me a copy of it- an amazing wealth of information in it. I've also attended some of the workshops as a helper, and found them amazing, healing.
