Good morning, all! I hope we are healthy and happy and ready for the weekend? Can't come too soon for me, I was already looking forward to it on Tuesday. Gah.
In other news, Jean has written a wonderful piece about attending a retreat. Give yourselves a Friday treat and read it!
Thanks Udge, glad you enjoyed my foray into fiction (alas, no, I'm not on retreat at a monastery in the French Alps)!
Been meditating in the evening this past week and suddenly this does seem possible, and a nice way of winding down after a tiring day. I'm not nodding off as I usually do (an up-side to current desperate insomnia?) Perhaps I'll eventually be able to do a short session both first thing in the morning and in the evening - been aspiring to do this but not managing it since before we started 100 Days.
Yes, I sat this morning. But reading Jean's comment makes evening meditation sound appealing and encourages me to give it a try.
I'm taking a blogging break until at least the end of the month. I need it. However I plan to sit each day and I will be back here again at some point.
hope you are enjoying your thanksgiving downtime, lorainne, that beth your headaches lessen. i love your goodmornings, udge, there is so much hope in them.
sarah, nice to have you.
dale nice to have you back briefly.
jean, mary, bitteroot, mb, everyone...LOVE.
i had a breast exam yesterday. as i was sitting in the waiting room i read the report for the first time from 2 years ago. 'small nodule? follow up exam needed in 6 months'. I havern't been formally meditating much (but breathing through alot) but I just spontaneously closed my eyes. I was so thankful for this little time of acceptand and non clinging which replaced the fear...thankfully all is fine.
had a couple of good friends over for dinner last night and they got quite violent and verbally abusive. all, they said, to do with the stress of selling their house. j started talking to them aboout meditation and they saw red. i guess some people are just not ready to see that there may be a way of dealing with these huge stresses.
Ruth, nice to hear from you! Sorry to hear about your difficult dinner. No, people aren't ready to hear about it until they're ready to hear about it. That sounds funnier than it is.
I have a practical question about this blog that perhaps someone with more technical expertise could answer. I've noticed it is often relatively slow to load. We don't have a lot of photos or anything, but we have ALL the posts listed on the page that loads and no archive. Would it speed things up to institute an archive for the older posts? We could leave, say, the previous ten on the front page...
mb: yes, that might well speed up the loading. The main page is 193Kb, we could well try reducing this to present say 20 posts = 3 weeks. Reducing the archiving interval from daily to monthly might also help a lot. Give it a try, or I'll have a look tomorrow morning if nobody else fixes it tonight.
Udge, I can post a new entry, but apparently don't have the permissions to do any administrative maneuvering beyond that. If you or someone else has, go for it!
Yes, more than ready for the weekend, although for us self-employed types, all the days blur together. MB, I wish you relief from those headaches, and sweet sleep to the insomniacs. J. and I have been up for an hour or two every night this week, and I am dying for a good night's sleep! Ruth - so sorry to hear about your dinner. It's awful when friends can't hear you or take what you say in the spirit it was meant. Sounds hurtful and sad. Jean - I'm off to read your post!

Love to all in the meantime.
Udge, me too. Gah.
Jean, I enjoyed your foray into the French alps, real or less real.
Mary, be well. Enjoy your break. I look forward to your return.
Bitterroot, thanks for your good wishes.
Beset with headaches this week, migraine and other, so attention to breaths has felt like a mini-retreat for which I'm grateful.

Sweet dreams, my dears.
