Ah. Managed to get up in time to sit for 20 minutes first thing this morning. I really like this to be the first thing in my day. Will try very hard to get back to it, and to continue sitting when possible in the evening as well, now that I've found that I can.
I too find that sitting first thing is the only thing for me. Otherwise I hurl myself helter-skelter into the day, unprepared for the slings and arrows of it all.
As a result of the conditioning of meditation, what I find is that I don't get so lost in the stories of things, so the angst is considerably reduced.
Not that my meditation is free of a sort of frantic free-association much of the time. But I feel it keeps the mind supple so that when the temptation to get lost with a story occurs, I can often remember to come back to the present moment.
