Very silent weekend - I hope it was peaceful for everyone! Thanks for posting the days, Brenda. I hope you didn't feel abandoned. It's important to keep the feeling that some of us are here, even when we don't check in, but not always easy.
Attended a meditation day on Saturday, which was really nice. A long time since I sat four five periods in one day, and with other people. Not since the retreat I went on last Summer, I guess.
Still finding meditation hard because my mind is so scattered. As an exercise for the short course of weekly meditation classes I'm doing, we're doing a 'mindful walk' every day. Finding this even harder than being focused when sitting! I've started doing counting or a mantra, but even then I keep losing it! But I truly believe that it's the becoming aware and repeatedly trying when it is very hard that makes a big difference, even more than the times when it's easy.
Hey there, everyone. I've been spending my weekends largely off-line, which is a good thing. I agree with Devon re. walking meditation: it's a wonderful practice, something I find "easy" to do even when sitting is "hard." Jean, have you ever tried doing some walking meditation *before* you try to sit? I wonder if the peaceful repetition of one foot in front of the other would help to calm your scattered mind (I know it often works for me.)
devon, really good peaceful thoughts for the resolution of your crisis...
I am so scattered these days in terms of sitting, but bringing a sense of breath awareness to swimming and lying for my hour by the municipal pool listening to the cicadas. tuning into the 'noise' of the boys bombing and showing off, and the other tourists as simply the sound of other people on their journies. I can't wait to haver my room. The buildres finaly left yesterday. Manages to sit here and there 5 minutes....but yes any kind of awareness in one's day - walking, shopping, swimming, talking with a loved one, is all practice. practice is surely what's important, though I do need to go back to sitting too.
off line weekends sound good to me, lorraine, and good morning to you too dear dale.
Jean, how wonderful your meditation(s) on Saturday sounds! And like the company has given you a lift.
Devon, that is such good news & I hope the glimmer turns into a brilliantly lit day. You deserve it.
Lorianne, I did quite a bit of walking meditation this weekend, and it was wonderful. Especially when I could let go of my busy thoughts and just be in the beautiful residential cityscape of old houses I passed through.
Ruth, having your own room will seem positively luxurious! Though I do love your 'outdoor' office extremely... :)

Holding lots of good thoughts for you Devon!
Hmm, I wonder when the next labyrinth walk in London will be?
