Compadres, I'm wondering if we want to have both our "first Friday" sit and our "hundredth day sit," this time around -- they fall, what, three days apart? Does it make sense to have both? Should one supercede the other?
I'm for both, as the extra layer of commitment might possibly enable or encourage me to actually DO some sitting, but if only one then perhaps rather the Hundredth. Or 101st!
After church today, at the Lenten discussion group, we heard from a retired psychiatrist who has always been very interested in eastern religions and has maintained a meditation and yoga practice for more than 20 years. He got a roomful of Anglicans on their feet doing yogic breathing exercises and chanting a Hindu chant with eyes shut. It was far out. I was smiling to myself.
