I just sat for 10 minutes this morning. It feels very different from not at all, though.

Sat at KCC (my meditation center) last night, supposedly for 50 minutes, but Michael was late & gave long instructions, so I bet it was more like 30 :-)

In the discussion afterwards he was very inspiring about retreat. I've never done more than a couple days' retreat. I would very much like to, though.

Sat this morning. Felt very intentional. Have picked up some kind of stomach bug/chill during the day so am going off to bed. Feel rough.

Thanks to Jean and Suzanne for the thoughtful posts in response to stuff I have raised in the last few days. I hope to come back on some of it when I am feeling better. And of course thanks to Dale for intiating this little group in the first place! 'Night all.

Jean, 10 minutes or 10 hours, it doesn't matter. What matter's is you sat. At least that's how I look at it.

Will sit later tonight for 35 minutes.

Hey, John, welcome!

I didn't really found this, though, you know, Mary -- it was the elusive Yam. I'll have to see if I can get in touch with her.

Had an extended sit this morning. It felt nice after a couple of days of brief and ragged meditation. It was J's birthday Friday so we made an overnight trip out of town and had several other social commitments that kind of jostled my routine and provided too much to distract my concentration this weekend.

Interesting to read about your prefered postures. How different bodies are! I do fine in lotus but I really have trouble in a kneeling position. I also had knee problems, some kind of tendonitis, I think. Its mostly healed, but I still have terrible pain when there is extensive pressure on them.

Mary, you might look into a combination of MSM and tumeric tablets and arnica gel for joint problems--it really helped me heal my knees much more quickly than I could have imagined.

Didn't sit at all. Acknowledged the flow of good energy, free flow, rare for me. Went with it and thrived.

Opening the heart cavity, by proper posture, rounded breathing, head emptying, allows more room for compassion.

Noticing before thinking, important. Smile at it all before the mind categorizes...

Just discovered this from Jean via Zinnia. For years now I have spent daily, however long it takes - usually about ten minutes to say prayers, but as I leave whoever is around and sit in the garden - weather permittting - I call it meditation - to cover my stupid embarrassment From now on I shall think of you all doing whatever it is you do.

about 10 years ago I started having achey knees
and then I went to tai chi
did tai chi for two years
all my joint and muscle pains disappeared
and have not
re-appeared

I haven't meditated in a couple of days
but O how I have
pondered
