sat 10 minutes - better than nothing, and felt quite clear which may have had something to do with a big house/desk post xmas pre potential painting buyer clean I'd just finished...!

Found myself paying attention to the relationship between taking in breath (or energy or light or whatever) and letting it go. Sometimes I try and concentrate so much on emptying I get into some self starvation.

Christmas Guilt about having, perhaps?

The light is wonderful here today, bright and frosty and crystal clear, and it was good, in the end, to fill myself up with it.

With a visitor in a 2 room flat it is more difficult to meditate, but I have sat for approx 10 minutes yesterday and today.

Have been aware of the importance of centering myself down prior to meditation - the ritual of the candle, incense, prayer, taking time to really connect - all part of the process for me. The visit is going well but once or twice I have needed to remember to take a mental and emotional step back and not react immediately. Sharing the kitchen and bathroom are the biggest challenges!!

woooah, know that feeling mary, about the bathroom sharing....which is why we couldn't do it this christmas.

hang in there. that connectedness is a real challenge when boundaries are pushed, but that is what it's all for, no?

Sat 22 minutes, the first time in a few days. I was amazingly unsettled at first and then later amazingly focused. It's so peculiar sometimes to watch my mind!

We had a wonderful day together yesterday, our little family in the morning, then a multitude of friends over in the afternoon. By evening we were exhausted, happily, and retreated to solitary activities a little while before tumbling into bed.

I was thinking of you all, wishing you as much warmth and love!

Today is another holiday in Canada ... Boxing Day ... a gigantic SALES day, somewhat like Black Friday in the US. Don't think that was the original intent

Christmas Day was very quiet in our house ... our major celebration is Winter Solstice where we do the cooking and feasting. Worked an extra shift at the Hospice Unit so Meg could travel to be with her family in Oregon. One of the doctors always dresses up as Santa (with two interns as elves) and visits each of the patients to give them a rose and a candy cane. I always get all teary when he does this

Today I returned to my 20-20-20 routine ... 20 minutes yoga, 20 minutes zazen, and the walking turned into an hour. Then some reading and taking notes in a book about arthritis that my son sent

Spent some time browsing through the entries here, getting to know some of you. Very happy to have found you ... big thanks to Lorianne and to the unkown originator (who is s/he?)

Curious about a couple things ... how do you keep spammers out? and how do you insert pictures in your comments?

Janice, Dale (of Mole) is the originator of this. The word verification you have to type to post a comment is designed to eliminate spam from automated "spam-bots." And the pictures come from one's Blogger profile: if you click on someone's picture, it will take you to a page telling you more about the person, with linkage to their Blogger blog(s).

I haven't officially sat yet today, having instead bustled about with various post-holiday & household tasks. Now I'm settling in to grade my last several batches of papers: not exactly meditation, but an exercise in both mindfulness & compassion, I think.
