My friend M says that it generally works to establish a habit if you do it for 100 days at about the same time every day. What I'm going to commit to is a minimum of three minutes of shamatha every day. I'll generally be meditating in the evening, upon getting home from work. But I don't think I'll make the time of day part of the commitment. I want to make the commitment as simple and doable as possible.
I sat twenty minutes last night. It is really odd. You would think that for me to have so much trouble keeping a daily practice, it would have to be something horribly unpleasant. On the contrary it's something I almost always like doing while I'm doing it.
So -- if anyone else would like to make a commitment and have a place to check in and get encouraged, please, hop on board.

Yes. A minimum of 5 minutes meditation or chanting per day. Most probably in the morning, but like you I want to make it do-able. Scarey stuff, Dale!
Oh hell, alright. Starting tomorrow morning. Ten minutes minimum (less than that doesn't really work for me).
brava!
Welcome, O Yam! (Yam? Where did you come up with Yam? :->)
